Hello, Hello, Welcome!
Do you enjoy going out to dinner, catching a movie with friends or taking a relaxing trip? I do, too! I like to do all of those activities and I do them on a budget.
My budgeting habit started strangely enough with food. I just wanted to save treats for later.
Homemade desserts were very common when I was growing up. Being able to ‘stash’ an extra cookie or slice of goodness, in the form of a slice of cake or pie in the back of the fridge, was considered to be genius. It was even better if no one ate it and you were able to enjoy it later, while your siblings wondered where you got it.
Sundays at church were great! A lot of the church Mothers had wrapped hard candies or gum. This is where I learned how to categorize my bounty.
The candies were divided into fruity or minty and gum was put in a different part of my purse for the ride home. This was where I learned the value of categories.
I started to work while in high school and when I got paid, my money joined the treats. I would put a dollar here and a dollar there in different parts of my purse. Of course, I kept things separate, because candy and money don’t always mix. (No one likes a dollar bill with a sticky piece of candy stuck to it.).
After working for a few months my purses could only hold so much. I decided to open a checking account and started putting my money away there. I divided the activities and events into categories (church, football games, basketball games, dances and going to the mall) and the days I wanted to go to them. After dividing activities and events, I divided the money for each. Guess what? Before I knew it, I had a budget.
Money, Money, Money and Bills
There are so many ways to earn money today. The opportunities continue to grow daily. You can work at home on the computer, the tablet or on the phone.
What hasn’t change is the task of paying bills and notices. Your money comes in and before you can get a good grasp on it, it flies out into someone else’s hand!
I want to help you start taking control of the money you earn.
The Goal
My goal is for you to gain your financial confidence. You can use the financial tools to get yourself into a better place when it comes to your money. Remember, this is your money and it should work for you.
If you ever need a hand or have any questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.
I am proud to be living on a real budget.
All the best,
Yolanda
